Author Talk | Lucy Bloom - The Manuscript @ Dubbo

LucyBloom5

Celebrate International Women's Day at Dubbo Library with author Lucy Bloom as she discusses her novel, The Manuscript.

About the author

Lucy Bloom was born in Africa. She is an international keynote speaker and consulting CEO with a background in advertising and international aid. She has three teenage children and is the author of two other books: A childbirth guide for men and her memoir, Get the Girls Out. The Manuscript is her debut novel.

Based on her own experiences and the mantra ‘write what you know’ Lucy Bloom has written a cracker of a debut novel that explores the sometimes disposable nature of modern relationships, divorce and online dating. Her book is a vehicle for storytelling and the result is an action packed and fast-paced novel that is as entertaining and thought provoking.

About the book

When author Edith Scott switches genre to write a book about war and men, she bites off more than she can chew. After learning some seriously hard lessons from men in her life who treated her poorly, Edith decides to write them into the plot. One by one she kills them off with delight. But Edith will never know that real life is dealing with them in a parallel reality too brutal for words.

Set in Sydney, Paris, London, Berlin and Kinshasa in the Congo, The Manuscript is Lucy Bloom’s debut novel and has all the Aussie context and whiplash humour of acclaimed television show Rake combined with the style and unexpected violence of Killing Eve. It is a novel about the delicate nature of relationships, the ruthlessness of karma and the blurry line between truth and fiction.
