Summer Reading Club
Every year the library runs a massive Summer Reading Program. The theme for this year's Summer Reading Club is 'Game On: Supercharge your Summer'.
The Summer Reading Club is delivered nationally with over 40,000 Australian children registering and collectively reading almost 300,000 books.
A child's reading achievement typically declines over the summer holidays and this reading loss each year accumulates to a crucial two-year gap in reading by the time children leave primary school. The Summer Reading Club is a fun way to prevent this slide and it is a free program.
The program runs from December 1 to January 31 and, while aimed at infants and primary students, it is open to all children.
To join in the fun children can:
- Visit the library from December 1 to register, and receive their free Summer Reading Club starter kit.
- Read and listen to books from the library.
- Collect prizes and bonuses.
- Come along to the fun activities and workshops in the library.
