The library has a collection of books and resources dedicated to children and youth and a range of regular programs to assist early literacy.
Spend time sharing books with your little ones while building early literacy skills with 1000 Books Before School - our free early literacy program for ages 0-5 years.
Visit your library to register your child and receive a free reading kit including a library bag, a book, and your child's first reading log. Every book that your child completes, or actively listens to, is then recorded on their reading log, and they earn exciting rewards as they make their way towards 1000 books!
It’s free, and your child can begin any time before they start school. You can even register your newborn! For more information contact your library or visit 1000 Books Before School.
Free Book Gifting Program
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free book gifting program devoted to inspiring a love of reading in children. Each month, enrolled children receive a high-quality, age-appropriate book in the mail, free of charge. Children receive books from birth to age five.
This project has been funded by the NSW Government for some areas of the state including Warrumbungle Region and Narromine Region, as part of the Brighter Beginnings initiative.
If you have a child born in 2022 who lives within the Narromine Shire Council or Warrumbungle Shire Council areas contact your local library for information on how to register.
