1810's
1818 Explorer John Oxley passed close to the site of Narromine on his trip to trace the whole course of the Macquarie River.

1828 Charles Sturt, another explorer, also tracing the course of the Macquarie River with Hamilton Hume, passed close to the site of Narromine. These men kept journals detailing their expeditions, which can now be found in the Mitchell Library.

1830's
1835 William Charles Wentworth and Captain Raine are thought to have settled on ‘Narromine Station’. Other squatters soon followed.

1858 Buddah homestead built.

1866 It is not certain when the village of Timbrebongie started, but records show the first ‘Timbreabungy Hotel’ commenced in 1866. Timbrebongie was an important crossing place over the Macquarie River by coaches from Bathurst and Dubbo to Bourke, via Warren. Bushrangers are seen near Narromine.
1870's
1876 An old cricket scoring book belonging to the McKillop family records a match held at Timbrebongie between the ‘married’ and ‘single’ men of the community.
1879 William O’Neill opened a hotel on the site of what was to become Narromine village.

1880's
1880 William O’Neill was the first person to grow wheat for grain in Narromine.
1882 William O’Neill was in charge of the first official Post Office. The Railway from Dubbo to Nevertire was formally opened on October 10, 1882. The Railway Station (the oldest government building in Narromine) was constructed.
1883 The village of Narromine was laid out in 1883. The first school was opened, Mr H. Townsend was headmaster.
1884 The first auction for town allotments was held in Dubbo.
1885 The village of Narromine was proclaimed.
1889 A police station was apparently first established at Narromine with one constable.

1890’s
1890
1891 Church of England parish formed.
1892 First doctor arrived in town – Dr Rowlands. An area was allocated for a horse racing track, although horse races were held in the area before this date. Commonwealth Bank opens.
1896 Narromine’s first newspaper was started.
1898 Narromine Municipal Council formed. Commercial Banking Company opened in the town (now National Australia Bank). Tender accepted for the construction of a ‘cell block adjoining a stable at the rear of the police station and a detached court room (which is the present Historical Society Museum)’.
1899 A large fire in the main street destroyed 11 shops. Bank of Australia (now ANZ) opens.

1900’s
1900 Tennis club formed.
1902 Foundation stone of Town Hall laid. First game of polo played in the town. Drought.
1904 Catholic school opened.
1905 Acetylene lights used in the main street as an experiment. Foudation stone of Presbyterian Church laid.
1906 Timbrebongie Shire Council formed. Mr William O’Neill left Sydney in his motor car for Narromine.
1909 First garage opened. Westpac Bank opens.

1910 Narromine Golf Club formed at Dundas Park.
1914 Timbrebongie Shire chambers built and occupied.
1915 Dandaloo Street footbridge constructed over the railway line. First movie theatre opens.
1919 Electric lights installed in Town Hall. First plane landed in Narromine.

1923 CWA formed.
1924 War memorial unveiled. Rural Bank Agency opened.
1928 Electricity comes to town.
1929 Water mains installed – water had previously been obtained from bores and tanks. Founding of volunteer fire brigade. Founding of Narromine Bowling Club.

1930 Narromine Swimming Pool opened – swimming club formed.
1932 New R. C. Church built and golf club house. Special Committee chaired by Robert Griffith set up to examine the contstruction of Burrendong Dam.
1934 First air mail leaves Narromine.
1936 Red Cross group formed.
1938 The Moss Murders.
1939-45 World War II – as in the first World War, Narromine District overinscribed to every war loan appeal.

1949 Narromine hospital opened.

1952 McPherson/Cluness (now Monadelphous) established.
1953 Narromine Spastic Council fomed. Lions Club chartered.
1955 The great floods of February.
1957 Quota Club started. Apex Club formed.
1958 Rotary Club founded.
1959 Sewerage available in Narromine.
